Yiddish Dictionary Project

In 2002, Yiddish lexicography took a step forward with the publication of:	אין יאָר 2002 האָט די לעקסיקאָגראַפֿיע פֿון ייִדיש געמאַכט אַ טריט פֿאָרױס מיטן אַרױסגעבן פֿון:

But for students of Yiddish not fluent in French, using this dictionary requires looking up the definitions in a French dictionary.	פֿאַר ענגליש־רעדערס איז אָבער דאָ אַ חסרון: די טײַטשן זענען אױף פֿראַנצײזיש.
For almost 8 years, a team based in Boston has been working on a Yiddish-English version of the dictionary.	שױן כּמעט 8 יאָר צײַט אַרבעט אַ גרופּע אַרױסצוגעבן אַ ייִדיש־ענגלישן נוסח פֿונעם װערטערבוך.
To create this new version, the team starts with the Yiddish, and then examines both the existing Yiddish-English sources and the French definitions to compose the best contemporary English equivalents.	פֿאַר יעדן טײַטש, באַטראַכט מען דעם ייִדישן אױסדרוק, די פֿריִערדיקע ענגלישע מקורים, און דעם פֿראַנצײזישן טײַטש, צונױפֿצושטעלן דעם בעסטן עקװיװאַלענט אין הײַנטיקן ענגליש.

More user-friendly, without the complicated abbreviations and signs found in older works.
